I mentioned in my post on Monday that I bought a Fit Bit Flex for myself as a birthday gift -> I’m absolutely obsessed! The FitBit Flex tracks steps, distance, calories burned and active minutes throughout your day. I know I’ve only been using it for a few days but I’m hooked. It’s definitely helped me with falling back into the 5am routine because I want to hit all my steps before I get ready for the day! So far this week, I’ve been successful & it feels good!
So, what do I like about it?
-It really does encourage me to get up and move throughout the day. I work an office job so I pretty much spend my entire day sitting down (booooo). This week, I’ve made it a point to get up and do a few loops around the office every hour. These steps add up at the end of the day. Also, it’s been helping me to re-focus when I take a little 3 minute break to walk around. I’m thinking about asking for one of those stand up.
–The silent alarm -> how neat! I’ve set this alarm to a few minutes before my other alarm goes off for now. It’s much more pleasant to wake up to your arm buzzing than quacking… yes, my alarm is the duck noise. I’m hoping that I can get in the habit of using the silent alarm only, but we will see what happens.
–The sleep tracker! It’s so cool. On the app, you enter in what time you went to sleep and woke up then it gives you an analysis of how you slept! For example, it shows me that between 11:10 pm & 5am, I woke up once around 1am and was restless 7 times throughout the night which totaled 13 minutes awake/restless!
–Ease of use. Not only is it inconspicuous, it’s way easy to set up & the app basically runs itself (besides having to enter in your water/food intake which I haven’t been using).
–Color options! There are a few different colors that Fit Bit offers when you first purchase the wristband but of course I chose pink. They also offer packs of 3 wristbands in different colors for purchase. Not only does Fit Bit sell other color options, but there are lots of other brands that are making options too. For example, the lovely Tory Burch! There’s a whole line of pretty wristbands available but most of them are a bit too pricey for me. However, I did splurge a bit on one & I can’t wait for it to come in 🙂
–Water resistant -> you can wear it in the shower, don’t have to freak out if it starts to rain during a run, and can keep it on swimming (for up to 10 meters)! This makes things easier when you don’t have to worry about getting it wet!
–Food Tracking. I haven’t used this feature yet but I do think it’s awesome. However, I also find it to be too cumbersome. I think I’m going to test it out for a full week, next week. While I keep a written food journal, I know using the app would be much more beneficial for myself.
I’m so happy with my decision to make this purchase. It’s motivating me to achieve the goals I set for myself and making me more conscious of what I’m putting into my body, even if I’m not using the food tracking part. It’s also made me realize that on days I don’t run, I’m not very active so I need to work on that because it concerns me. I’ve read a few articles that say sitting is the new smoking and I don’t doubt it -> check these Runner’s World and Forbes articles… Pretty interesting. All in all, I’m a happy girl ❤
